Bodkin Yacht Club, Inc. is a first class boating organization, maintained by its members. It was organized as a yacht club in 1957 on the site of the former Carbacks Marina, presently known as Pleasure Cove Marina. They adopted bylaws and customs similar to existing yacht clubs. Several years later, because the club had grown in membership, they purchased a nearby property with docks and a house that provided a clubhouse. This property overlooking Bodkin Creek became the home of Bodkin Yacht Club. A severe fire destroyed the original clubhouse in 1987, and the present clubhouse and lounge were constructed.

Bodkin Yacht Club is owned and maintained by its membership as a Maryland non-profit corporation. Its volunteer officers manage the club. Our Commodore is the presiding officer and represents the club at yacht club functions around the Chesapeake Bay. Our Vice Commodore is in charge of the clubhouse grounds and several important club events, including our Opening Weekend event in June of each year, always Father’s day weekend and in the fall our Fleet Review and Princess Coronation. The Rear Commodore operates the internal clubhouse operations, including the bar and kitchen. Our Fleet Captain arranges all of our many cruises in season, as well as managing the 60 plus boat slips that are available to our regular membership. A seventeen-member board of directors governs the day-to-day business of the club, subject to approval by the general membership.

Bodkin Yacht Club is an active social club as well as a boating organization. In addition to the many club cruises, we offer social events ranging from our “Formal” Commodore’s Ball in February, to our annual Bull & Oyster Roast in Spring and the Crab Feast. Our club offers a full social calendar for our members, their family and friends. Bodkin Yacht Club also has an active Auxiliary organization
